I am currently posted in Obstetric & Gynecology department. Today, I attended a case of a young Malay lady who got pregnant.
Let's have a guess how young she is?
Clue 1: Average age of menarche (first menstruation) in Malaysia is around 11-14 years old.
Clue 2: The mean age at first sexual intercourse in Malaysia is around 15 years old.
Clue 3: The odds of getting pregnant from a one-time sexual encounter are about 11%
Clue 3: 85% of all couples who have unprotected sex will become pregnant within the first year.
Well, after all the clues, I believe there must be an answer in your mind.......

18.. oh.. pls.. take a guess again....
16... come on... a bit younger pls...
The answer is 14. Ya... you are right.. she is only 14 years old...Can you imagine that?
It is just like a kid bearing another kid...
OMG!!!! Do you still remember what were you doing during 14 years old?
I was still in my secondary school. being innocent and native, enjoying my life as a student.
A pregnancy itself is a big problem, how about after her delivery? A full-term pregnancy is 38-42 weeks. By the age of 15, she will have her first baby delivered. Do you think a 15-year-old mother is emotionally, mentally, physically, socially, and economically mature enough to take good care of a baby?
I am neither here to preach nor giving a lesson, but it did really shock me! What had happened to our society? Don't many of you score the Moral subject in SPM? (p/s: i failed my moral study in SPM, i think i am quite "Moraless" :( ) How about the sexual education we took in secondary school? Don't the guys know there is something called "C-O-N-D-O-M" in this world? A lecturer made a joke... what is the commonest sexually transmitted "disease" ??? Ans: pregnancy (true answer :Chlamydia trachomatis infection)
Don't having sex with the one you love suppose to be holistic and happy? I don't know how open is the youth nowadays, but I really not able to agree to have a premarital sex. What is the future of this young lady? A 30 mins "fun" had ruined her whole life.. Perhaps just being curious, no wonder western says curiosity kills a cat....
At the end of the story, the girl is referred to psychiatrist for counseling. I am not sure whether she will choose to deliver or whether MTP (medical termination of pregnancy) is legal in Malaysia, but what i concern is what kind of future this young lady wanna to have....
I hope that she is brave enough to bear the responsibility... and face the society.. I wish her family will give her full support with caring and love instead of shouting and scolding..
Life finds its way... I sincerely pray that the innocent baby will have a bright future!

when i was in labour ward posting, saw a chinese girl gave birth to a baby girl, and she was born in 1993, age 13 to be exact coz she havent passs her birthday yet... her "boyfriend" 21 years old guy was anxiously waiting outside, dunno is lucky for them or unlucky for the baby....
